Five weeks too fast.

Five weeks. Five weeks is all it took for me to completely and irrevocably immerse myself into the lifestyle of the people in Bosnia. Five weeks is all it took for me to get attached to all the people I met, and strengthen the bonds with those I already knew. Five weeks is all it took for me to learn that traveling isn’t about sightseeing; it’s about learning the ways of the people. Five weeks is all it took for me to realize the importance of filling in the gaps of geography in today’s world. Five weeks is all it took for me to remember how important it is for one to remember their roots. Five weeks is all it took for me to reestablish the importance of the bond between family. Five weeks is all it took for me to realize the importance of finding a compatible lifelong companion from the example my own grandparents. Five weeks is all it took for me to realize that even though some may not have much; they always have their hospitality to offer.

Five weeks came and went in the blink of an eye. Yet in that time frame many fond memories were created- thank you to all who made my trip memorable along the way. Thank you for an amazing five weeks.

Here it goes!

One of my new year’s resolutions was to start a blog. Since I am currently on Spring Break, I thought…why not. There’s no particular reasoning as to why I’m starting it just now…besides the fact that I felt like I could never find the time. The weeks leading up to Spring Break were stressful. Especially this last week, finals week. It was not the best timing to get sick. I initially thought I just caught a virus in the dorms. However, after awaking to myself collapsed in the dorm hall I realized it was a bit more serious. All I remember was my vision getting blurry, banging my head on the wall, and then the on the ground…and after who knows how much time awaking to a girl asking me if I was okay. It was a strange feeling waking up and not remembering where I was. Thank God for the kind people I am surrounded by. Growing up my parents always told me I was hard-headed (tvrdoglava in Bosnian), so my head was fine   ; ] However, after that eventful morning I got my first case of home-sickness. I know a lot of college students look forward to crazy spring breaks spent partying… and more partying. And I am sure some may consider my spring break “lame”…but honestly I’m just glad to be home for a bit.  Otherwise, who knows when I would get around to starting this thing up. Spring break couldn’t taste any sweeter right now.
